The Ramen Stall, originally a pioneer of Halal Japanese dining in Singapore since 2014, expanded across the border to Malaysia, opening its Johor Bahru branch in KOMTAR JBCC in April 2025. Both The Ramen Stall and The Dim Sum Place (点心屋) next to it in KOMTAR belong to the same group of restaurants under W Food Empire (旺食集团).

The Ramen Stall offers a series of Japanese ramen dishes, with chicken char siew / beef slices, as its primary offerings, alongside premium sashimi, sushi and Japanese snacks, including chawanmushi, okonomiyaki (with cheese), Japanese gyoza, etc. A number of sides can be added-on to the ramen, including beef slices.

The Volcano Ramen (火山拉面) is offered with three levels of spiciness — I opted for Level 1 on first try. The noodle dish is served with two slices of chicken char siew (partially obscured by chilli paste in the photo), ajitama egg (soy sauce egg), minced chicken meat, tea tree mushrooms, sweet crunchy corn kernels, seaweed shreds and chopped scallion on Japanese ramen in soup. The white, creamy, sweet-savoury soup is flavourful with comfortable spiciness from the chilli paste and the chicken char siew is very tender. Level 1 is a gentle volcano — I may try a fiery volcano next time but will prioritise trying more dishes.

The Salmon Belly Sashimi (三文鱼肚刺身) is served with 6 pieces of freshly-sliced, fat salmon belly meat with extra cut in the middle for better texture. The first piece I ate it without any condiments, the next four pieces with some lemon juice and wasabi, and the last piece with few drops of soy sauce with wasabi, to enjoy the varying flavours. The salmon belly is very tender and the wasabi does not give that intense, nasal-choking sensation. This sashimi is simply irresistible!

The Ramen Stall is a nice place for delicious Japanese ramen and fresh sashimi just over the border and so near to JB checkpoint. Needless to say, prices are cheaper than in Singapore.
