High Street Tai Wah Pork Noodle (大华肉脞面), established since 1939, is a popular Singaporean hawker brand famous for its Teochew-style bak chor mee (minced meat noodle) and has been recommended by Singapore Michelin Guide since 2018. While associated with the Michelin-starred Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle, the High Street brand features slight variation in flavours of the sauce used for the pork noodle dish.
High Street Tai Wah’s main outlet is located in Hong Lim Market & Food Centre, and with quite a number of branches across Singapore, but mostly in the east. One of its west-side branches is located in Hawkers’ Street on Level 3 of Bukit Panjang Plaza.
The Main Outlet
The main outlet at Hong Lim Food Centre, facing Outram Park Fried Kway Teow Mee (欧南园炒粿条面), offers just one pork noodle dish with options for either dry / soup style, type of noodle and size (small / medium / large).

The small-size, dry-style Pork Noodle (肉脞面) is served with a number of ingredients (minced pork, lean pork slices, pig liver slices, pork meatballs, a meat dumpling, fried sole fish and fried pork lard — on mee pok (default) that is dry-tossed in a slight vinegary, savoury sauce. The mee pok is nicely-done and springy and the ingredients offer varying textures. The soup is rich, flavourful from boiling the fresh pork ingredients. The fried sole fish has a strong taste, quite similar to salted fish but not as salty, and enhances the pork noodle dish.

The Branches
At Tai Wah’s branches — assume all to be same / similar unless otherwise noted — there seem to be quite a number of dishes on the menu, but they are mostly variants of Tai Wah’s Pork Noodle with different combinations of ingredients — e.g. dumplings noodle, pork meatball noodle, various soup dishes without noodle or just the ingredients as side dishes. As usual, the recommended noodle type is mee pok (usually dry-style) but mee kia (thin noodle), kway teow (broad-flat rice noodle) and yellow noodle are also available.

The dry-style Signature Tai Wah Pork Noodle (大华招牌肉脞面) is the larger version of the Pork Noodle with the same ingredients on dry-tossed mee pok. However, the quantities of all ingredients nearly doubled. It can be a filling dish for those with small appetites.

Tai Wah’s pork noodle dishes are the best options to have all ingredients, except fried meat dumplings, in a single dish. The other dishes varies the combination and amount of ingredients. Take your pick.
