Sin Chew Satay Bee Hoon & Cuttlefish Kang Kong (星洲沙爹米粉.鱿鱼蕹菜), started in 1956, is a renowned hawker stall in Bukit Timah Interim Hawker Centre famous for its signature satay bee hoon (rice vermicelli) and cuttlefish with kang kong (water spinach). And, they serve just the two dishes.

The medium-size Satay Bee Hoon (沙爹米粉) has thin rice vermicelli added with fresh prawns, cockles, sliced lean meat, cuttlefish slices, kang kong, tofu puffs and bean sprouts before being drenched in smooth, rich satay-curry gravy. The real essence of the dish is the gravy, which contains minced peanuts, not too viscous and is slightly sweet, savoury with mild spiciness and nice flavours from the spices. The amount of gravy is adequate for tossing with the bee hoon and all ingredients. And, the cuttlefish breaks easily on biting — make me want to go for their Cuttlefish Kang Kong dish next.

Sin Chew Satay Bee Hoon stall is seldom without a queue, including non-peak hours. As always, avoid peak hours and have patience queueing.
