Xing Yun Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice (幸运海南起骨鸡饭), established since 1992, is famous for its silky steamed chicken and fragrant rice at affordable prices. The Michelin-recognised hawker stall is located at Yuhua Place Market & Hawker Centre in Jurong East.
The Hainanese-style Steamed Chicken Rice — I went straight for the chicken drumstick — is served with deboned chicken meat on chicken-stock-infused rice. The chicken drumstick with smooth, silky skin is dribbled with light soy sauce and sesame oil, and is very tender. The rice is aromatic with nice, distinct flavours of chicken stock as well as sesame oil. Of special mention is their zesty chilli, added with minced ginger, gives a refreshing note of fresh ginger, tangy and just-nice spiciness. It goes so well with the chicken and rice. Yummy!
Xing Yun Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice draws long queues regularly, even on weekdays, and often sells out before its official closing time. So, be early.
