The Olive Fried Rice with Chicken (鸡肉橄榄炒饭) is rice stir-fried with chicken meat, scrambled egg, chopped long beans, shallots and black ground olive. The rice dish is nicely-cooked, non-oily and has well-balanced flavours from its ingredients, especially the subtle flavour of olive. A small scoop of Khon’s Thai green chilli concoction further enhances the flavours of the fried rice. This is one of my favourites.

The Pineapple Fried Rice (黄梨炒饭), with prawns, is a Thai-famous, popular dish to go for. The rice is fried with Thai spices, including turmeric, to give the rice a yellowish colour. Other ingredients include fresh prawns, egg, cuts of pineapple, shallots and topped with pork floss and cucumber slices. The fried rice has well-balanced flavours with not-too-sour pineapple and sweet-savoury flavour from the pork floss. It is a delicious dish too.

The Basil Pork with Rice (泰式罗勒猪肉饭) — available with chicken too — is one of Khon’s hot-selling rice dish that comprises basil pork, a fried egg and plain rice. The Thai-famous basil pork is fried using minced pork with basil, onion, garlic, red chilli, chopped long bean, etc, and has just-nice spiciness with light aroma of basil. The fried egg has a beautiful dark orange (high-carotenoid) runny yolk that gives a rich and creamy texture. This is another delicious dish to go for.

The Fried Garlic Pork Rice (蒜蓉炸猪肉饭) has deep-fried lean pork with crispy garlic bits, a fried egg and salad on plain rice. The tender pork meat has nice garlicky aroma and flavour. It is a simple rice dish and becomes tastier with Khon’s green chilli sauce.

The Pad Thai with Chicken (泰式炒河粉) — available with prawns too — is a flat rice noodle dish stir-fried with chicken meat, egg, dried beancurd cubes, bean sprouts, spring onions, etc, with dried chilli flakes and crushed peanut as typical condiments for the Thai dish. The noodle dish is not too dry and has a very nice sweet-savoury flavour.

The single-serving rice and noodle dishes of Khon Thailand Kitchen are delicious and I will try a different dish on each visit. I will find an opportunity to go for their cooked dishes and maybe their desserts too.

It seems like Khon Thailand Kitchen has opened another stall in SG Kopitiam (161, Bukit Merah Central) too.
