MyIpoh (怡保) is an authentic Malaysian dining concept offering traditional Ipoh heritage cuisine. Known for “grandma-approved” recipes, the restaurant specialises in iconic Ipoh comfort foods like chicken hor fun, curry mee, nasi lemak, and signature Ipoh White Coffee. Started in Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur, MyIpoh opened its second outlet in Mid Valley Southkey Mall, in Johor Bahru, in October 2025.

As mentioned, MyIpoh offers a list of Ipoh comfort food, including Ipoh chicken hor fun, char kuey teow, curry mee, dry curry mee, chee cheung fun, poached chicken rice, prawn mee and also other Malaysian delights such as nasi lemak, mee siam, popiah (spring roll), etc. As a kopitiam, traditional toasts and traditional kopi / teh are on the menu too.

I tried MyIpoh Chicken Hor Fun with Portion Chicken (怡保鲜虾河粉配单人份鸡) with a cup of Honey Lemon on my first visit. The dish is very similar to MyIpoh Chicken Hor Fun with Prawn (怡保鲜虾滑鸡河粉) except that the poached chicken is replaced with a dish of boneless chicken drumstick in oil and soy sauce. It is like eating Ipoh chicken hor fun (without chicken) and poached chicken rice (without rice).

"MyIpoh

Ipoh-style chicken hor fun is usually served with boneless poached chicken meat and prawns on Ipoh-made sar hor fun in a broth made from boiling chicken bones and prawn shells. Even without the “original” chicken meat, it is still a delicious bowl of chicken hor fun with rich flavours all in the sweet-savoury, prawny broth. The large amount of garnishes (spring onions, scallions, fried shallots) enhances the broth with more light flavours, making the dish flavourful and tasty.

"MyIpoh

The single-portion boneless chicken drumstick served in oil and soy sauce and garnished with scallions has a nice fragrance. The yellowish skin of the kampung chicken is smooth and the meat is very tender with savoury flavours from the oil-sauce, yet not overly salty. This is so good and I will want to try their chicken rice next time.

MyIpoh Kopitiam really serves some delicious and tasty Ipoh dishes and the staff are very friendly. I will want to go back for more of their Ipoh specialties.
