Kuching Lao Gai Mee (古晋老街面) — meaning “Kuching Old Street Noodle” — is a relatively-new noodle stall in Beauty World Food Centre serving selected noodle dishes, including popular Kuching / Sarawak dishes.

Lao Gai Mee serves Sarawak noodle dishs, such as Sarawak laksa and kolo mee, char siew mee and “fish ball bak chor mee” (fishball minced meat noodle). A new item is added recently to the menu and named “Signature Grand-Aunt’s Lao Shu Fen” (招牌姨婆老鼠粉).

Lao Gai Mee’s Char Siu Mee (叉烧面 / barbecued pork noodle) uses curly kolo egg noodle with slices of barbecued pork, a poached egg, pak choy and garnished with chopped spring onions. Break the egg yolk before eating, toss it well with the noodle and it will smoothen the whole dish. A nice and delicious dish.

The Sarawak Kolo Mee (哥罗面) is typically curly egg noodle served with slices of barbecued pork, minced pork and crispy fried pork lard. It uses a white sauce. Toss it well and eat the springy noodle with minced meat. Kolo mee has long been one of my favourite noodle dishes.

The Signature Grand-Aunt’s Lao Shu Fen (招牌姨婆老鼠粉) uses “mouse” vermicelli as noodle base and added with slices of barbecued pork, minced pork, a poached egg and fried pork lard. Toss the noodle well with its dark sauce and egg before eating. The minced meat will adhere to the vermicelli. It is another delicious noodle dish to go for.

Guess which other noodle dish I will go for next.
