Basil King is a Singaporean Thai-food stall chain specialising in Thai-popular basil rice dishes with option for number of fried eggs and customisable spiciness levels. The brand expanded rapidly to many locations in Singapore since April 2025 and a new outlet was opened in Beauty World Centre’s 4th-level foodcourt in January 2026.
Basil King serves mainly 4 types of basil rice dish with pork / chicken / beef / pork belly (instead of prawn). Each dish has options for single to quadruple runny fried eggs and spiciness level (1-5). “No Spicy No Kick La!” is Basil King’s tagline and their recommendation is medium spiciness (level 3).

The Basil Pork Rice — opted with single fried egg and medium spiciness level — is served with stir-fried minced pork with basil leaves, red chillies, garlic, fish sauce, etc, on Thai rice. The orangish egg yolk of the fried egg is wobbly and beautiful, and as always, I used it to smoothen and gel the rice with the minced pork. The tasty, basil-flavoured, savoury pork has a nice wok flavour with some crispiness in the meat. It is delicious and the medium spiciness level is just nice for me.

The Basil Chicken Rice — this time with double eggs and medium spiciness — is served with minced chicken meat stir-fried the same way as basil pork. The minced chicken meat, seems quite a lot, is softer in texture and offers a different taste experience from the drier, crispier minced pork. Two egg yolks this time offer a richer, creamier, eggy flavour to the tasty dish.

Basil King’s recommendation of medium spiciness is just-nice for me, but expect it to be slightly on the spicier side if you are not used to spicy food.
