Singapore Eat: Shiok Hokkien Mee Fried Prawn Noodles @ Beauty World

Shiok Hokkien Mee specialises in Singapore-style Hokkien mee (福建面), or fried prawn noodles, and serves it in several outlets across Singapore. Its main outlet is in Golden Mile Food Centre and a new outlet is opened in the foodcourt on Level 4 of Beauty World Centre in March 2025.

Shiok Hokkien Mee serves only Hokkien mee, which is available in different sizes — and also just the kosong noodle without ingredients. Noodles, egg and mixture of the ingredients (prawns, squids, pork belly shreds) can be added-on at extra charges. Adding of fried pork lard is optional and need to be requested specifically.

The Fried Prawn Noodle uses yellow noodle and thin rice vermicelli to stir-fried with prawns, squids, shreds of pork belly and egg in savoury gravy — I did not ask for fried pork lards on first visit. The not-too-wet noodle dish has a bold wok hei (wok aroma) and served with sour-spicy sambal chilli and a lime. The dish has well-balanced flavours and is delicious — and very shiok! Be advised that the sambal chilli is very spicy, go easy on it.

Shiok Hokkien Mee’s stall in Beauty World Centre is the only outlet on the west side of Singapore so far. Don’t miss it.
