Pine Chicken Rice (松香鸡饭) is a Muslim-friendly restaurant brand that specialises in chicken rice dishes using different types of chicken. Established in 1999, the brand has its first outlet in Taman Melodies, not very far from KSL City Mall. Pine Chicken Rice opened its second branch in Tan Hiok Nee Heritage Walk in October 2024 and called it Pine Chicken Rice 2.0.
Note: Pine Chicken Rice 2.0 is “temporarily closed” since 1 Jan 2026. Visit the main outlet in Taman Melodies for their delectable chicken rice. See address below.

The restaurant serves “chicken rice” — a single name that encompasses a series of dishes created from combinations of various styles of chicken with different styles of rice and noodle. Aside from Hainanese-style steamed chicken, there are roasted chicken, herbal soya sauce chicken, barbecue (char siew) chicken, fried chicken and also Nyonya curry chicken to go with chicken-stock-flavoured rice, nasi lemak or egg noodle. There are specialty dishes using kampung chicken too — sold either in half / whole.

For single diner, the single-portion Plain Boiled Chicken (松香白切鸡), with rice or noodle, is a good option to go for. The steamed chicken is very tender, juicy and can be further enhanced by the restaurant’s gingerly green chilli and spicy red chilli. The rice is nicely flavoured with chicken stock too.

The Single-Pax Dual Platter (单人双拼拼盘) allows choosing two types of chicken to go with rice or noodle — I opted for BBQ chicken (鸡肉叉烧) and herbal soya sauce chicken (药材酱油鸡) with noodle. The BBQ chicken is roasted in char siew sauce and is tasty. The herbal soya sauce chicken is tender and dribbled with a sweet-savoury sauce. Both types of meat offer different tastes and textures with springy and crunchy thin egg noodle.

Don’t be surprised when I say century egg is one of my favourites. After spotting it on the menu, it is irresistible not to order a side dish of the Century Egg (皮蛋) to complement the main dishes.

Pine Chicken Rice is not just steamed or roasted chicken with rice. It has a lot more types of “chicken rice” and noodle to offer.
