Dong Ji Yun Jiao (东记云饺.拉面小笼包) is a Chinese-food stall in Bukit Timah Interim Hawker Centre serving Chinese-style delights, including different types of pork dumplings, wantons, noodle dishes, xiao long bao (小笼包), pan-fried scallion cake (葱油饼), etc. And the prices are reasonable.

The Shandong Fried Dumpling (山东锅贴) is served with 10 pieces of pan-fried pork & chive dumplings per dish with a thin layer of crispy crust. This is the Shandong style of steaming the pork dumplings until cooked through, then pan-fried them with starch water to create a crispy, golden-brown bottom layer. When served, the dumplings are flipped to present the golden crust on top to make it easier to break and separate the dumplings. The pork dumplings taste fresh, tender and juicy, not salty and with crispiness from the fried bottom and thin crust. A nice experience to try this dish in Singapore and 10 pieces can be quite hearty.

The Chinese-style Braised Beef Noodle (红烧牛肉面) is quite a hearty bowl of yellow noodle dry-tossed in a delightful gravy and topped with chunky beef briskets, black fungus and shreds of cucumber. The beef briskets are soft, tender and their chunkiness gives some meaty satisfaction. The savoury gravy is not too salty and gels the crunchy black fungus and cucumber shreds with the noodle. This is nice too.

As a Chinese stall, Dong Ji Yun Jiao’s serving portions can be quite large and their prices are reasonable. And best of all, their dishes are not too salty nor oily, making them a healthier choice.
