Instead of plain roti prata, I have Egg Onion Prata and Hotdog Chicken Prata to go with vegetable curry. The size of the pratas are slightly larger than expected with the ingredients (egg, onions and chicken hotdog) wrapped inside the squarish flatbreads. The vegetable curry has a rich curry flavour with a mellow acidity, sweet-savoury and not too spicy. It greatly enhances the flavour of the pratas.

The Nasi Ayam Tambah, meaning “upsized chicken rice”, is served with extra chicken meat — select either drumstick or breast meat as desired — and extra serving of chicken stock-flavoured rice. The portion is big enough for 2 persons to share and cheaper too. The chicken drumstick is roasted with beautiful skin, tender meat and pairs well with sweet-spicy chilli. The accompanying soup taste nice too with rich flavours of fried shallots and minced garlic.

For single-pax, get Nasi Ayam (chicken rice).

The Kothu Prata Chicken, a South Indian / Tamil street food, uses crispy roti prata that is chopped (kothu) into smaller pieces and stir-fried with egg, fresh onions, curry leaves, spices and reddish tandoori chicken. It is an aromatic, flavourful dish, not too heavy in taste, and with slight crispiness from the prata and tender tandoori chicken. A side bowl of curry gravy adds more flavours and mild-spiciness. This is my first time trying kothu prata and I really like it.

Srisun Express has a long list of pratas and other cooked dishes to try. And, it is opened round the clock.
