“We are a workshop more than a cafe”, said Linda when giving me a brief introduction to the cafe. She was roasting coffee beans beside the door when I first stepped into August Drip Coffee in June 2022.
August Drip Coffee (八月咖啡工作室) is a workshop-cum-cafe, or a “roaster”, where it roasts a wide range of imported specialty coffee beans. It is also a great spot for coffee-lovers to interact, exchange coffee and brewing knowledge, and enjoy wonderful pour-over coffees or the cafe’s specialty coffees with light bites. They hold workshops for latte arts, coffee cupping, and other coffee-related sharing sessions regularly too — refer to their social media for more info.
Started in August 2019 in a shop unit right beside Restoran Hao Bi (好比鸭王) in Taman Century, the cafe moved to a standalone building with much bigger space in November 2025, still in Taman Century — see its location on the map below.

August Drip Coffee imports over 70 types of premium coffee beans from around the world, including via auctions for exclusive beans from famous farms. The workshop-cafe’s main role is to roast the different types of specialty coffee beans to bring out their best taste profiles. I like the roasty aroma that filled the cafe when they are roasting the beans — so lucky it was on my first visit and I was hooked since then.
In one corner near the entrance of the new cafe, their wide range of freshly-roasted coffee beans lined the shelves for selection for pour-overs. Light-roasted beans are mostly fruity in nature and medium-roasted beans are fuller body, mildly acidic and with stronger aromas. The cafe has their own blends of coffee beans too.

Having a cup of pour-over coffee at the cafe is a great way to try the flavours of the picked coffee beans before buying the beans to self-brew at home. The pour-overs that I have tried at the cafe are mostly light-roasted to taste their bright flavours (closer to original) and include Ethiopia Sidamo / Yirgacheffe / Bench Machi, Kenya Kiriniaga, Tanzania Kilimanjaro, China Yunnan Red Wine in the Sun, Colombia Huila, Costa Rica Las Lajas and many more over the years since 2022.

On every visit, I will purchase either light- or medium-roasted beans to brew at home — one or two different types of bean a time. Note that the availability of certain coffee beans may be seasonal and popular ones tend to run out fast.
Aside from pour-over specialty coffees, the cafe also serve classic Western coffees, dirty coffees with various flavours, signature coffees, and specialty coffees with unique, interesting flavours (lemongrass, pandan, white pepper!!, tomato!!) — I am tempted to try them. A special category called “One Bean, Three Brews” — coming soon — is also something interesting to look forward to. There are Chinese / flower teas and fresh juices too.

The classic hot Cappuccino is a welcoming cup of rich and creamy coffee with a pleasant aroma from their self-roasted, blend of coffee beans.

The White Pepper Coffee (白胡椒咖啡) is not a spicy-peppery cup of coffee as initially thought. It is an iced, fruity coffee using cold brew coffee, fresh mango with a small amount of ground white pepper to add flavours — not for its spiciness. The coffee is slightly viscous initially and gets diluted as the ice melt, giving a different mouthfeel and unique tastes from start to finish. Definitely must try!

There are also nice cakes, baked by Sherly, as light bites to go with any coffees. There are several flavours of cheesecakes, tiramisu, brownies, pound cakes, etc. Aside from the classic tiramisu with alcohol, there are new-launched, non-alcoholic versions of pistachio tiramisu, lemon zest tiramisu, chestnut tiramisu, etc.
The new cafe also increased its range of light bites with sea-salt croissants, garlic buns, etc. Curry puffs and small packets of mee siam and nasi lemak from external suppliers are available too — and they run out fast too.

I visit the cafe very often to try more of their hand-brew coffees, gain knowledge about coffee beans and also learning how to brew them. August Drip Coffee is a great starting place for beginners in self-brew coffee — I started brewing my own coffee after 4 visits to the cafe.

The cafe has a membership scheme for discounts on expenditures in the cafe. Special promotions for members are usually held in the month of August during their anniversaries.
Don’t miss out August Drip Coffee if you are a coffee-lover and enjoy savings on your coffees and freshly roasted coffee beans. For those who have never try pour-over coffee before, experience it at the cafe with lovely friends — they don’t like to be called “staff” — who will be more than happy to share what they know.
