Yearn Cafe, located in Kampung Atap of Pontian Kechil, is not far from the town centre and very near to New Dawn Hotel. The cafe is a hidden gem for homemade cakes and Asian delights tucked among rows of traditional shops.

The cafe has simple decorations and is very neat and tidy with a very relaxing vibe. There is a Mona Studio — for eyelash, nails and waxing — housed within the cafe and is adored by ladies. The lady owner is very friendly and will introduce each item on the menu.

The cafe serves hot / iced black, white and Isuzu Matcha espresso coffees. There are fruit teas, fruit & Yakult and fruit & yogurt blended beverages too. The Avocado Yogurt Blended, topped with a slice of avocado and a spice leaf (wonder what is it?), is smooth, creamy and refreshing with nice avocado-yogurt flavour and a really great drink to have on hot days.

For main dishes, the cafe offers Japanese-style rice bowls and Chinese-style sour-spicy dishes with / without knife-shaved noodle. There are various (French-style) baguettes and Chinese dumplings too.
The Suan La Ban (酸辣拌) is a crunchy sour-spicy dish with no staple — rice can be ordered separately. The dish is served with shredded chicken, sliced abalone mushroom, shredded Japanese cucumber and soybean sprouts tossed in flavourful sourish and mild-spicy sauce and accompanied by crunchy peanuts. It is amazing that, other than the shredded chicken, all other ingredients have different degrees of crunchiness. It is an interesting and delicious dish that is definitely a must-try.

Yearn Cafe’s homemade cakes are displayed in a glass shelf at the bar counter. There are basque burnt cheesecakes with various flavours (original, Isuzu Matcha, pistachio) and tiramisu — the types of cake may change after a period.

The tiramisu cake (contains alcohol) has very mild alcoholic and mellow coffee flavours with very soft and creamy mascarpone layers. The same tiny leaves on the cake seems to be for decorative purpose but it does have a unique taste when chewed.

It will be really special to have a spread of different styles of Asian dishes on the table when dining at Yearn Cafe.
