Singapore Eat: Hong Kee Hakka Yong Tau Foo & Beef Noodle @ Parc Point

Hong Kee Hakka Yong Tau Foo & Beef Noodle (酿豆腐.牛肉面) is a new, Halal-certified food stall in Gourmet Paradise Foodcourt, on Level 2 of Parc Point, serving Hakka yong tau foo with noodle and a list of beef noodles as its main offerings. There is also a mutton noodle dish on its menu.

Hong Kee Hakka Yong Tau Foo & Beef Noodle @ Tengah Parc Point

The Hakka Special Noodle (客家招牌面) is served using thin-flat noodle added with savoury minced chicken meat, bean sprouts and chopped scallions in one bowl and a separate bowl of soup with yong tau foo ingredients — tofu puff with minced meat paste, tofu skin with minced meat, fried rolled tofu skin, big fishballs, dried beancurd with meat paste and fried minced meat ball. The minced meat on the springy noodle is slightly on the saltier side and is meant for tossing and flavouring the noodle. The soup and yong tau foo have low-saltiness and balanced out with the minced meat noodle — they are one dish, not two.

The Hakka Special Noodle is also available as a set meal with an additional dish of vegetable.

Hong Kee Hakka Yong Tau Foo & Beef Noodle: Hakka Special Noodle

The dry-style Beef Thick Bee Hoon (牛肉粗米粉) is served with thin slices of beef and bean sprouts on thick rice vermicelli, doused in thick gravy for tossing and garnished with parsley, minced radish and a lime for some citrusy flavour. Accompanying the noodle dish is a bowl of flavourful broth. The gravy has rich, savoury flavour and the beef slices are nicely done and tender. I love this style of beef noodle — I believe its Hainanese-style.

Aside from yong tau foo, Hong Kee’s different styles of beef noodle — and that mutton noodle — will be next on my targets.
