Previously located in Taman Sri Tebrau, Restoran Wang Xiang Noodle (万香生肉面) re-located to a new commercial estate near Pelangi Leisure Mall in Taman Pelangi. The restaurant continues to serves their signature Sabah-style pork noodle dishes in a much bigger space.

Wang Xiang’s pork noodle / rice are available as set meals. Diners can choose the type of noodles (either dry-tossed kolok mee or soup-based kueh teow) or rice, with different combinations of sliced lean pork, pig liver, intestines, meatballs and tendons. Additional meat, vegetables, etc, can also be added-on. There are soup and Hakka yong taufu (客家酿豆腐) as well.

Soup-based kueh teow (粿条汤) is recommended by Wang Xiang — and is one of my favourites for breakfast too. Thinly-sliced meat is the most popular option for noodle dishes. The lean meat are fresh, soft and very tender. The flavourful charcoal-boiled soup contains freshness of the meat and other ingredients that are boiled in it.

Apart from sliced meat, other ingredients like fresh pig livers, intestines, meatballs and tendons (cost more) can also be added. The kway teow dish in the photo below has lean meat, pig liver and intestine and they are well-cooked and nice too. Note that their chilli can be very spicy.

The dry-style kolok mee (干捞面) is served in a dark sauce that is neither too sweet nor savoury — note that “kolok mee” here means “dry-tossed noodle”, not the Sarawak Kolo Mee. The noodle offers contrasting tastes and textures to kway teow soup. The porky ingredients are served separately in a bowl of broth.

The delicious Hakka-style yong taufu (客家酿豆腐) are strongly recommended as side dishes to accompany any meals. The stuffed food are served in a sweet sauce. The lightly-fried yong taufu are very good, especially the binjal (eggplant) that is not mushy after cooked. The sweet sauce can be added to the dark-sauce kolok mee to make it a little more tasty if you like your noodle with stronger flavour.

Wang Xiang Noodle is a great place to go for nice pork kway teow soup (or with kolok mee) and delicious Hakka yong taufu. They have other outlets in Taman Sutera Utama and Johor Jaya.
