Kulai Old Street (古来老街) is just one street along Jalan Ismail, in Taman Kulai, where a number of old coffee shops and eateries lined both sides of the road. At the intersection with Jalan Ibrahim, sits a coffee shop with one stall selling char kway teow, named Kulai Old Street Jie Di (Siblings) Char Kway Teow (古来老街姐弟炒粿条) and the coffee shop itself serves beverages, including traditional kopi.
The stall’s traditional char kway teow is a family business that has been passed down to the 4th generation and is currently dished out by a sister-brother pair — hence, the stall’s name “姐弟炒粿条”. They use fresh, additive-free cockles that they catch themselves, ensuring that customers can eat healthily and with peace of mind. There are 2 sizes (small / large) for their char kway teow and extra egg and cockles can be added-on.

The old-taste Char Kway Teow uses broad-flat kway teow to wok-fried with cockles, eggs, bean sprouts, some chives / spring onions and soy sauce. The finished dish has a nice wok aroma, not too strong, non-oily and is savoury — unlike the sweet-savoury flavour of Singapore versions. It is a must-try tasty and delicious dish. By the way, getting a large-size portion is more worth it for just RM1 difference. For additional flavours, sprinkle some pepper powder — but make sure to try the dish’s original taste first.

One more thing, the char kway teow can be ordered from Jie Di Char Kway Teow stall from any of the nearby coffee shops, so diners are not limited to the food options available within each of the coffee shops.
