Johor Bahru Eat: Restoran Sekee Ah Hua Kway Teow (司机餐室亚华粿条) @ Bandar Johor Bahru

Sekee Restaurant (司机餐室) used to be located next to Ya Wang Restaurant (鸭皇药材烧腊大王) at one end of Pasar Karat along Jalan Segget facing a car park. It moved to its current location on the other side of the car park in later half of 2023.

Ah Hua Kway Teow (亚华粿条) is one of the two stalls in Sekee Restaurant selling its popular pork noodle dishes. The other stall sells coffee and other beverages. Note that food and beverages are charged separately.

At times when it gets really crowded in the restaurant, the stall will use a queue-number ordering system. Take a number card from the stall, find a table and wait for the number to be called before placing order at the stall. After the meal, return the number card and make payment.

Other than porky ingredients for the noodle dishes in either dry / soup style, other ingredients such as fish maw, seaweed, oyster, extra fried pork lard, abalone, etc, can also be added to the noodle dishes with additional charges. Other than kway teow, yellow noodle is also available.

The normal-size, dry-tossed pork noodle with thin kway teow is served in a sauce made with oil, vinegar, dark soy sauce and added with crispy pork lard. For spiciness, a sour-spicy chilli will be added. A separate bowl of soup has quite an amount of lean pork slices, minced pork, pig liver, pig kidney and romaine lettuce. The kway teow dish has complex flavours and the soup with all the fresh porky ingredients is rich with flavours. It is a nice and delightful dish to start the day.

The large-size, soup-version pork noodle has more ingredients and quantities added (lean pork slices, minced pork, pig liver, pig kidney, romaine lettuce, seaweed and crispy fried pork lard) — instead of pig kidney, I opted for oysters. As usual, the dish tastes of fresh porky ingredients, flavourful soup and the mix of soft kway teow with firm yellow noodle gives different textures. And, the big oysters are very fresh with firm texture and juicy — and so many of it. The dish is really worth the price!
