Kallang Bahru Braised Duck + Kway Chap (加冷峇鲁卤鸭.粿汁) is a food stall in Bukit Batok West Hawker Centre serving braised duck rice and kway chap — as highlighted in its name. The stall also serves pig trotter and pork meat / offal to go with rice / porridge / kway chap.

The Braised Duck Rice (卤鸭饭) is served with deboned braised duck meat on rice, pre-mixed thoroughly with braised broth, and dribbled with subtle sweet-savoury braised sauce. Aside from the tender duck meat, there are multiple sides, including half a braised egg, braised dried tofu, big braised peanuts, cucumber and a bowl of light, soy-herbal soup. It is one delightful dish that completes a meal.

The Braised Duck Noodle (卤鸭面) — opted for kway teow kia (粿条仔) — is served with tender braised duck meat, cuts of fishcake and beansprouts on the noodle, drenched with braised gravy and accompanied by a bowl of the same flavourful soup. The savoury gravy gives the dry-style noodle dish a balanced flavour, not salty, and the soup enhances the dish with mild soy-herbal flavours.

The Braised Duck Porridge (卤鸭粥) is served with boneless duck meat in smaller cuts, braised dried tofu, half a braised egg and big braised peanuts in hot porridge and topped with sweet-savoury braised sauce, fried shallots, scallions and coriander. The braised sauce flavoured the porridge nicely without it being too strong-tasting. And the hot porridge makes the duck meat softer to balance with the soft rice grains. It is when eating the lighter-tasting porridge did I notice that the braised peanuts are creamy-sweet and rich in peanut flavour.

The Kway Chap Set (粿汁套餐) is served with cuts of pork belly meat, pig’s large intestine, slices of pig’s skin, fishcake slices, a braised egg and tofu puff in savoury braised sauce and a bowl of kway chap in lightly-flavoured soup. The pork belly meat and large intestine are very tender and the pig’s skin is tender with gelatinous texture. Of special mention, sour-sweet-spicy chilli is used with the pork ingredients and not the same as the chilli used with duck meat rice.

Aside from Kway Chap Set, there are “Duck Rice Set”, with braised duck meat instead of pork ingredients, and also “Braised Set” with both duck and pork ingredients. Rice / porridge / kway chap can be selected for the three set meals despite their namings.
