Ipoh Cafe: Four Beans (四夕豆花) Soy Desserts @ Taman Jubilee

Four Beans (四夕豆花) is a popular Halal-certified dessert chain in Malaysia specialising in modern Taiwanese-style soya beancurd desserts and shaved ices, with multiple outlets in Johor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and, of course, Ipoh. The cafe chain focuses on providing modern, healthier, and refreshing dessert experience, catering to both traditional tastes and contemporary trends.

I have visited a Four Beans cafe in Kluang town several times and glad to see another of its outlet in Ipoh for desserts, especially in the hot afternoon and also as an evening go-to spot.

Four Beans (四夕豆花) @ Taman Jubilee

Four Beans offers a wide range of cold desserts using soy pudding / beancurd (豆花) as its primary offering. There are classic / signature / fruity soy beancurd series, non-soy desserts (pudding, shaved ices, etc), “World of Taro” series, “Grandma Handmade (奶奶手作)” series, etc, and customisable beancurd dessert with a choice of 3 toppings from a list of 20+.

Four Beans (四夕豆花): Menu

The Signature Soy Beancurd (招牌豆花) is served with separate servings of osmanthus honey (my choice), cold soy milk and fine-ground peanut powder for adjusting the taste of the dessert according to personal likings — the honey for sweetness, soy milk and peanut powder for flavours. The soy beancurd itself has 7 toppings — peach gum, snow nest, mixed taro balls, mini taro balls, glass jellies. gingko and honey pearls.

Four Beans (四夕豆花):

The Taro Dessert Soup — opted for plain — in the “Grandma Handmade” series is a bowl of traditional taro paste, added with coconut milk, and is smooth, creamy and mildly sweet. It has a rich taro flavour and great as an after-meal dessert “soup”.

Four Beans (四夕豆花):

The Burnt Cheesecake with Taro is the best option to have both original and taro flavours in one cheesecake. The original cheesy layer sits on a layer of soft taro paste. The cheesecake can be enjoyed separately as two flavours or mixed to experience the flavour of cheesy-taro.

Four Beans Cafe has always been a great spot to go for desserts when taking a break or after shopping for local products along Gerbang Malam (Night Gate) — or when there is nothing much to do after nightfall in Ipoh.
