Chow Chow Stir-Fry has two broad categories of dishes on its menu: fried rice and noodle. In general, fried rice dishes use calrose rice to stir-fry with kampung eggs — their “unsung heroes” — whereas noodle dishes use wheat noodle and add with pak choy. Customers can select different sauces and ingredients to custom-made their own desired fried rice / noodle dishes, or pick from Chow Chow’s pre-matched “Top Picks” fried rice / noodle dishes. Cold beverages and side dishes (served in takeout boxes too) are also available.

It’s chow time!

The Kimchi Fried Rice with Diced Chicken Breast & Fried Egg (煎蛋鸡丁泡菜炒饭), as its name implies, is prepared using diced chicken breast meat, kimchi and egg to stir-fry with short-fat calrose rice and topped with a sunny-side-up fried egg. The sticky calrose rice absorbed the flavours of all the ingredients easily and is tasty with mellow kimchi flavours, not salty and soft texture. It is delicious!

The Spicy Sambal Noodle with Smoked Duck (熏鸭叁巴拌面) has wheat noodle tossed in sambal sauce and added with smoked duck slices, pak choy and spring onions. The flavour of the smoked duck slices is expectedly tasty and juicy and tossing them with the noodle will get some sambal sauce on them for extra flavours. The wheat noodle is of medium thickness with soft yet chewy texture. The sambal sauce adds tastiness to the dish rather than sheer spiciness.

The Ma La Fried Rice with Sliced Beef (牛肉麻辣炒饭) is another tasty dish with distinct mala flavours and without the sheer spiciness as well. The usual calrose rice is stir-fried with egg, scallions, spices and sliced beef with a nice wok aroma. The beef slices are tender with mala flavours.

The Black Truffle Fried Rice with Smoked Duck & Shrooms (熏鸭菌菇黑松露炒饭) is a rich and flavourful dish with distinct aroma and flavours of its ingredients — black truffle, sliced and minced mushrooms, and smoked duck. It is not a strong-tasting dish like the Ma La Fried Rice but emphasises more on the flavours of each ingredient with neither of them overpowering the others. This dish is must-try and definitely worth its price!
