Long Khun Food Point (龙坤饮食) is a new beverage stall that opened with the newly-opened Lava Foodcourt (Lava 食阁) below Block 150 in Bukit Batok West Shopping Centre. Aside from traditional beverages and cold drinks, the stall offers traditional breakfast set (toasts + soft-boiled eggs + hot kopi / teh) too.
I have the Traditional Breakfast Set (传统早餐) with kopi-O siew dai (less sugar). The traditional kopi-O has a faint woody aroma unlike those offered in other coffee shops — I wonder which type of coffee powder or blends they use. For the soft-boiled eggs, I let them simmered a little longer to ensure they are slightly on the cooked side with no still-raw albumen (egg white). And they have beautiful orange yolks — and still molten.
The traditional toasts use brown breads that are slightly toasted and spread with thin layers of pandan kaya and butter. It has a nice balanced flavour, without being overly-sweetened with thick kaya or added with sinful thick slab of butter. The appropriate amount of spreads make the toasts flavourful and a healthier daily breakfast.
Wake up early, take a walk in Bukit Batok West Shopping Centre and get drawn to Long Khun Food Point by the aroma of its traditional kopi-O — for better health, skip the milk and reduce / skip the sugar.
