“Leitaria I Son” is Portuguese for “Dairy shop” with “I Son” being a transliteration of the name “义顺” (pronounced as “yee soon“), thus, the English-equivalent is “Yee Shun Diary Shop”.
Yee Shun Dairy Company (or Yee Shun Milk Company / 義順牛奶公司) is one of those classic dessert places for steamed milk pudding and traditional desserts in China, including Macau and Hong Kong. Often mistaken as a Hong Kong dessert place, it actually started in Macau with a number of outlets around the Historic Centre of Macau. The flagship outlet is located along Av. de Almeida Ribeiro (新马路).
Yee Shun Milk Company’s signature desserts are hot / cold double-skin steamed milk pudding (双皮炖奶) — comes in various flavours beyond the original, such as chocolate, almond, red beans, etc — and ginger milk pudding (姜汁撞奶). A wide range of other milk-based desserts, iced desserts, sandwiches and noodle dishes are available too.
The hot Double-Skin Steamed Milk Pudding (双皮炖奶) has silky, soft texture with a layer of thin milk skin on top. It is lightly sweet and have an intense fresh milk flavour. This is really nice.
There are a lot more desserts to try at Yee Shun Milk Company and all its outlets offer sitting spaces to take breaks from walking around Macau.
Note that the main outlet accepts cash only — not sure about the others though.
