The noodle stall in Bukit Batok West Hawker Centre (BBWHC) that serves Hokkien prawn mee is simply just called “Fried Hokkien Noodles (炒福建虾面)” — I will refer to it as “BBWHC Fried Hokkien Noodles” for ease of referencing. Aside from serving traditional Hokkien prawn mee (福建虾面) as its primary dish, similar dishes with premium ingredients — lala (white clams), roasted pork, big prawns or all-in (for 2 pax) — are also available.

The small-size Hokkien Prawn Mee (福建虾面) has two prawns, shreds of pork belly meat, calamari and egg to stir-fried with thick rice vermicelli and yellow noodle. It has a thick savoury gravy with rich flavours, just-nice wetness, and nice wok aroma. Add in some lime juice and tasty sambal chilli (optional) to enhance it with more flavours. It is delicious!

The best-selling, low-sodium Roasted Pork Hokkien Noodle (烧肉虾面) throws in additional cuts of roasted pork to stir-fried with Hokkien prawn mee but with a slight difference — the salt added to the noodle is reduced, taking into account the savouriness of the roasted pork. The tender roasted pork also added its subtle roasty flavour to the noodle, making it another tasty dish to go for.

There are a number of food stalls in Bukit Batok, including Bukit Gombak, serving delicious Hokkien noodles and BBWHC Fried Hokkien Noodles has joined that list.
